There are now more and more people who are starting to accept as true that the predictions and prophecies of catastrophe and doomsday in 2012 may in fact be true. This is primarily due to the ending of the Mayan calendar during the winter solstice in 2012. There are a lot of things that are understood to happen, and lots of people are buying into the hype.
The Mayan calender will end on what the Mayans called the end of the immense Cycle. This is due in part to the fact that many scholars accept as true the Mayans to be adept at astronomy and mathematics, and that they were educated in interpreting what the heavens were revealing to them at that time. The baktun is a cycle of the Mayan calendar, and that day is the last one in the cycle. Why it is so important is because in Mayan culture this is a cycle that brings the ending to one thing and a launch to a new one. Nevertheless, as reflected in their artifacts and writings, according to the people that study them, the Mayans in no way made any statement of the world ending at all. In truth, a good deal of this ending part of their calendar was in no way completed, except to note that it was an important change in the history of the Earth.
However, can any of this really be believed? Is it probable that the Mayan calendar is actually pointing to armageddon in 2012? There are many who believe that those who point to the 2012 terminate of the world are really misunderstanding what the ending of the immense Cycle means. They see the immense Cycle as a time of festivity and happiness for the Mayans. This is because the Mayans accept as true that making it to the ending of the great cycle as a great achievement worthy of celebration.
Additionally, there are many more prophecies which point to the come to an end of time. Alien invasions and a planet hitting the earth are the most extensive ones. According to popular myth a mysterious planet, Planet X is speeding towards our solar system, which it will enter in 2012. However, as to a planet crashing into ours, there are no planets that are out of their orbit, or even any headed straight at us. Scientists keep an eye on these things and data would be released from scientific organizations if it were authentic.
Some of these prophecies and doomsday ideas included storms that would hit the world with devastating force, as well as disruptions from volcanoes, earthquakes and even solar flares. They also include reference to the magnetic poles of the Earth switching positions. The results from magnetic pole reversal are said to include global warming, earthquakes, famine, drought, unusual weather patterns, social collapse and even war. At least this is what the doomsday prophets are saying.
Natural disasters are the best likelihood for the earth ending, and even with that, there is no supporting evidence it will take place. Solar flares are no worse then normal, and at no time in our history do we have geological validation that a solar flare occurred which was extensive enough to kill off life on the planet. Also, there is no corroborating piece of evidence to backing that any natural calamity will be occurring on this date.
It is easy see why many think that 2012 finish of the world is more than a possibility but for many more there is simply just not enough evidence to verification that view. Thus no one really knows what will occur.
